Triple disruption: DIGITAL Disruption X MILLENNIAL Disruption X PANDEMIC Disruption telah meluluh-lantakkan operasi bank.

Bank dipaksa “Go Digital” karena konsumen sudah banyak mengurangi kontak fisik dan hidup di zaman LOW-TOUCH ECONOMY. 

Kantor cabang yang awalnya adalah ASET TERBESAR bank kini justru menjadi beban (liability) karena menjadi overhead berbiaya amat mahal.

Dulu BRI mengatakan “kami punya cabang hingga ke pelosok Tanah Air.” Dulu BCA mengatakan “ATM kami paling banyak.” Kini era itu telah lewat. 

Kini bank beroperasi dengan model ASSET-LIGHT (minim aset fisik). Aset paling berharga bank bergeser menjadi: DIGITAL tech, DATA (dan kemampuan analitics untuk mengolah data menjadi knowledge), dan penguasaan ECOSYSTEM. 

Karena itu yang dikejar bank sekarang tak lagi banyaknya kantor cabang, banyaknya ATM, or banyaknya pegawai. Tapi penguasaan EKOSISTEM yang difasilitasi PLATFORM digital.

Itu sebabnya Bank Mandiri berambisi menjadi “super-apps” melalui Livin’. BRI berambisi menjadi “financial supermarket” melalui BRImo. BCA berambisi menjadi “ecosystem leader” melalui BCA Digital. 

Menariknya, kini mulai bermunculan bank-bank “rookie”, neo bank tanpa cabang seperti Bank Jago, yang justru mendapat valuasi amat tinggi.

Lima tahun lalu kita masih mengatakan “CASHLESS SOCIETY” sebagai sebuah mimpi. Kini mimpi itu kian jelas menjadi kenyataan.
