Scaling-Up Warunk Upnormal

Scaling-up atau membesarkan bisnis setelah sebuah startup mencapai “product-market fit” adalah tantangan terbesar setiap startup dan entrepreneur yang membangunnya.

Asal tahu saja sekitar 74% startup di Silicon Valley gagal karena tak mampu membesarkan diri (premature scaling) alias layu sebelum berkembang. Walaupun tak ada angkanya, saya yakin di Indonesia angkanya lebih memprihatinkan di atas 90%.

Di Indonesia, sebagian besar UKM adalah “perusahan bonsai” karena sepanjang hayatnya kecil melulu nggak pernah kunjung membesar karean tak tahu dan tak mampu melakukan scaling-up.

Celakanya, ada sebuah anggapan umum yang kini mulai muncul, bahwa menjadi startup dan UKM itu cool, keren. Perusahaan besar itu nggak keren.

Saya sendiri bilang, menjadi startup atau UKM itu memang cool, tapi kalau kelamaan menjadi UKM, terbonsai terus-terusan nggak kunjung membesar, itu mah namanya malu-maluin!!!

Kebanggaan terbesar seorang entrepreneur UKM ya, kalau UKM yang dibangunnya ter-scaling-up menjadi perusahaan besar.

Raksasa digital seperti Facebook, Google, Amazon Uber, Go-Jek atau WhatsApp awalnya adalah UKM. Dengan kemampuan scaling-up yang luar biasa cepat (rapid scaling-up) mereka bertumbuh menjadi raksasa dalam waktu yang singkat.

Seperti halnya raksasa-raksa digital tersebut, Anda harus mulai bisa bilang: “goodby UKM”.
Caranya: lakukan scaling-up.
