Ada satu fenomena yang menarik dari konsumen kelas menengah muslim di Indonesia. Semakin makmur dan knowledgeable mereka, semakin religius pula mereka. Mereka tak hanya mencari manfaat fungsional dan emosional (functional-emotional benefit) tapi juga semakin mencari manfaat spiritual (spiritual benefit) dari produk yang mereka beli dan konsumsi. Mereka menuntut brand Anda menjalankan kepatuhan (compliance) pada nilai-nilai dan ajaran-ajaran Islam.

Buktinya? Kalau dulu konsumen muslim kurang begitu konsern dengan praktek riba dalam berbank, kini mereka menjadi peduli untuk menghindari riba (bank syariah tumbuh pesat 40% pertahun). Kalau dulu mereka tak begitu peduli dengan makanan halal, kini mereka menjadi sangat peduli (survei: 95% konsumen kosmetik mengecek label halal). Begitu pula kaum wanita muslim kini semakin konsern untuk menutup auratnya (lihat fenomena revolusi hijab).

Pasar muslim menggeliat menjadi pasar yang besar di berbagai industri seperti umroh, bank dan asuransi syariah, fesyen hijab, kosmetik halal, makanan halal, buku dan musik, hingga hotel syariah. Dengan perubahan tersebut marketer tidak bisa lagi mengabaikan pasar ini. Untuk membahas hal ini Komunitas Memberi @memberiID bersama PPM School of Management menyelenggarakan bedah buku “Marketing to the Middle Class Moslem” by Yuswohady dan talk show pada:
